Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. DTC output area check
      1. Using the Techstream, determine the area that output the DTC.

        Result 

        RESULT CHART

        Result Proceed to
        B2651 output from driver seat ECU A
        B2651 output from passenger seat ECU B

    B: Go to step  9

    A: Go to Next Step 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY TECHSTREAM (POWER SEAT MOTOR FUNCTION) 
    1. Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check the power seat motor function.

      Driver Seat 

      DRIVER SEAT ACTIVE TEST REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range
      Seat Reclining Seat reclining operation FRONT/REAR

      OK: Motor operates normally 

    NG: Go to step  7

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH LH - FRONT POWER SEAT POSITION SENSOR LH AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the e46 switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the e48 sensor connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the values in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      e46-8 (PVCC) - e48-3 (VCC) Always Below 1 Ω
      e46-22 (SSRR) - e48-1 (O/P) Always Below 1 Ω
      e46-18 (SGND) - e48-2 (GND) Always Below 1 Ω
      e46-8 (PVCC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      e46-22 (SSRR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      e46-18 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  4. CHECK FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY LH (POSITION CONTROL SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the e48 sensor connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the values in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      e48-3 (VCC) - e48-2 (GND) Reclining switch signal ON 7.2 to 8.8 V

    NG: REPLACE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH LH  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  5. CHECK FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY LH (POSITION CONTROL SENSOR) 
    1. Reconnect the e48 sensor connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      e48-1 (O/P) - Body ground Reclining switch signal ON 0 to 8V

    NG: REPLACE FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  6. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
    2. Recheck the DTC.

      OK: DTC B2651 is not output. 

    NG: REPLACE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH LH  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: END (SYSTEM RETURNS TO NORMAL) 

  7. CHECK FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY LH (POWER SEAT MOTOR) 
    1. Check operation of the power seat motor (reclining motor).
      1. Check if the seat adjuster moves smoothly when the battery is connected to the reclining motor connector terminals.

        OK 

        RECLINING MOTOR OPERATION CHART

        Measurement Condition Operational Direction
        Battery positive (+) → 2
        Battery negative (-) → 1
        Forward
        Battery positive (+) → 1
        Battery negative (-) → 2
        Backward

    NG: REPLACE FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH LH - POWER SEAT MOTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the e46 and e45 switch connectors.
    2. Disconnect the e47 motor connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the values in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      e46-3 (RCL+) - e47-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      e45-3 (RCL-) - e47-1 Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: REPLACE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH LH  (See REMOVAL  )

  9. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY TECHSTREAM (POWER SEAT MOTOR FUNCTION) 
    1. Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check the power seat motor function.

      Passenger Seat 

      PASSENGER SEAT ACTIVE TEST REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range
      Seat Reclining Seat reclining operation FRONT/REAR

      OK: Motor operates normally 

    NG: Go to step  14

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH RH - FRONT POWER SEAT POSITION SENSOR RH AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the e20 switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the e15 sensor connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the values in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      e20-8 (PVCC) - e15-3 (VCC) Always Below 1 Ω
      e20-22 (SSRR) - e15-1 (O/P) Always Below 1 Ω
      e20-18 (SGND) - e15-2 (GND) Always Below 1 Ω
      e20-8 (PVCC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      e20-22 (SSRR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      e20-18 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  11. CHECK FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY RH (POSITION CONTROL SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the e15 sensor connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the values in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      e15-3 (VCC) - e15-2 (GND) Reclining switch signal ON 7.2 to 8.8 V

    NG: REPLACE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH RH  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  12. CHECK FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY RH (POSITION CONTROL SENSOR) 
    1. Reconnect the e15 sensor connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      e15-1 (O/P) - Body ground Reclining switch signal ON 0 to 8V

    NG: REPLACE FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  13. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
    2. Recheck the DTC.

      OK: DTC B2651 is not output. 

    NG: REPLACE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH RH  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: END (SYSTEM RETURNS TO NORMAL) 

  14. CHECK FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY RH (POWER SEAT MOTOR) 
    1. Check operation of the power seat motor (reclining motor).
      1. Check if the seat adjuster moves smoothly when the battery is connected to the reclining motor connector terminals.

        OK

        Battery positive (+) → 2
        Battery negative (-) → 1
        Forward
        Battery positive (+) → 1
        Battery negative (-) → 2
        Backward

    NG: REPLACE FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  15. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SEAT SWITCH RH - POWER SEAT MOTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the e18 and e20 switch connectors.
    2. Disconnect the e14 motor connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the values in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      e20-3 (RCL+) - e14-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      e18-3 (RCL-) - e14-1 Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: REPLACE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH RH  (See REMOVAL  )
