System Description

  1. REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION 
    • Power seats are standard equipment for the front seats and optional for the rear seats.
    • For rear power seats, the position of the right and left seats can be adjusted independently.
    • A memory system for the rear seats is optional.
  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT 
    FUNCTION CHART

    Components Function
    Seat slide motor Receives signal from position control ECU, motor operates, and rear seat slides forward and rearward.
    Seat headrest height motor Receives signal from position control ECU, motor operates, and headrest raises and lowers.
    Seat upper lumbar motor Receives signal from position control ECU, motor operates, and rear seatback upper lumbar moves forward and rearward.
    Seat reclining motor* Receives signal from position control ECU, motor operates, and seat tilts and reclines.
    Ottoman motor* Receives signal from position control ECU, motor operates, and ottoman raises and lowers.
    Seat position sensor At all times, detects rear seat slide, headrest, upper lumbar, reclining* and ottoman* position and sends data to position control ECU.
    Rear power seat module switch Operation of this switch sends seat adjustment signals to position control ECU. Then, seat slide adjustment, headrest adjustment*, seat upper lumbar adjustment, seat reclining adjustment*, and ottoman adjustment* occurs.
    Rear door courtesy switch Opening rear door sends signal to main body ECU.
    Memory switch Operating of this switch sends signals to rear door ECU. Then, seat slide, headrest, seat upper lumbar, seat reclining* and ottoman* position memory is set or recalled, and door open linked return operation control is activated.

  3. SYSTEM OPERATION 

    Each of rear power seat's memory adjustment and positions are shown in the chart below.

    • By operating the rear power seat reset switch, the position of the rear seat that has been adjusted can be returned to the factory setting.
    • To improve the ease of entry/exit into the vehicle, the door open linked return operation is available. For this operation, when a rear door is opened, the rear seat adjacent to the opened door is moved to the rearmost position.

      At this time, the position control ECU checks the shift lever position, brake operation, engine switch position and vehicle speed. It then makes a judgment of the vehicle's status before activating motors to move the rear seat to rearmost position.

    • The door open linked return operation can be enabled or disabled by operating the C switch in the rear seat memory switch.
    • The right and left position control ECUs memorize seat positions for their own respective rear seat sides.
