Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the skid control ECU, perform initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration (see INITIALIZATION  and CALIBRATION  ).
  1. CHECK DTC FOR ALL SYSTEM 
    1. Clear the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
    2. Check for the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      Result 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed To
      DTC is not output A
      DTC (CAN communication system) is output B
      DTC (LIN communication system) is output C

    B: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    C: GO TO LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    A: Go to Next Step 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY TECHSTREAM (SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Select the Active Test mode on the Techstream.

      Meter ECU: 

      METER ECU REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Display
       
      Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Indicat. Lamp Slip Turns slip indicator light ON / OFF Confirm that the vehicle is stopped and engine idling
    4. Check that the slip indicator light turns on or off when using the Techstream.

      OK: The slip indicator light turns on or off in accordance with the Techstream. 

      HINT:

      If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing the part (see PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).

    NG: GO TO METER AND GAUGE SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY TECHSTREAM (SUP INDICATOR LIGHT) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Select the Active Test mode on the Techstream.

      ABS/VSC/TRAC 

      ABS/VSC/TRAC REFERENCE CHART

      Slip Indicator Lamp Turns slip indicator light ON/OFF Observe combination meter
    4. Check that the slip indicator light turns on or off when using the Techstream.

      OK: The slip indicator light turns on or off in accordance with the Techstream. 

      HINT:

      If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing the part (see PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).

    NG: REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  4. READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM (NO. 1 CONSOLE SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Select the Data List mode on the Techstream.

      Center console switch: 

      CENTER CONSOLE SWITCH REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Display Measurement Item/ Range Normal Condition
      TRC (TRAC)/VSC OFF Switch VSC OFF switch / ON or OFF ON: VSC OFF switch OFF
      OFF: VSC OFF switch ON
    4. Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the VSC OFF switch turns on or off on the Techstream.

      OK: The VSC OFF switch is operated, and the display changes as shown above. 

      HINT:

      The procedure above is performed to confirm the condition of the TR (A)C / VSC switch.

    NG: REPLACE NO. 1 CONSOLE SWITCH 

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  5. READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM (SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Select the Data List mode on the Techstream.

      ABS/VSC/TRAC 

      ABS/VSC/TRAC REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Display Measurement Item/ Range Normal Condition
      TRC (TRAC)/VSC OFF SW VSC OFF switch / ON or OFF ON: VSC OFF switch OFF
      OFF: VSC OFF switch ON
    4. Check that the VSC OFF switch turns on or off on the Techstream.

      OK: VSC OFF switch is operated, and the display changes as shown above. 

    NG: REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: CHECK INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS  (See CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS  )
