Auxiliary Emission Control Systems: Canister: Installation

  1. INSTALL CANISTER 
    1. Connect the purge line hose to the charcoal canister.
    2. Attach the 2 clamps.

    3. Install the canister with the 4 bolts and 2 plastic nuts.

      Torque: 21 N*m (215 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)

    4. Connect the connector (leak detection pump).

    6. Connect the purge line hose to the pipe.
    7. Connect the air inlet line tube (leak detection pump) and vent line tube to the pipe, as shown in A in the illustration. Then push up the retainer to lock the claws, as shown in B in the illustration.
      NOTE:
      • Check that there are no scratches or foreign objects around the connected part of the fuel tube connector and pipe before performing this work.
      • After connecting the fuel tank vent tube, check that the fuel tank vent tube is securely connected by pulling the fuel tube connector and pipe.

  2. INSTALL FLOOR NO. 1 UNDER COVER 
    1. Install the under cover with the 5 nuts and 5 clips.

    3. Install the 2 hole plugs.
  3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  4. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
      NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
