Exhaust Pipe: Removal

CAUTION:
  • The procedures should be performed by at least 2 people.
  • Wear protective gloves when removing the exhaust pipe.
  • The exhaust pipe is extremely hot immediately after the engine has stopped.
  • Confirm that the exhaust pipe has cooled down before removing it.
  1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH  (See REMOVAL )
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
    NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  3. REMOVE NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE NO. 6 ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR 
    1. Remove the 2 clips, screw and protector.
  6. REMOVE NO. 5 ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR 
    1. Remove the 2 clips, screw and protector.
  7. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH 
    1. Remove the clip, nut, 5 screws and cover.

  8. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH 
    1. Remove the clip, nut, 5 screws and cover.
  9. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER LH 
    1. Remove the 3 clips, 3 screws, 4 grommets and cover.

  10. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER RH 
    1. Remove the 3 clips, 3 screws, 4 grommets and cover.
  11. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR CENTER BRACE 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and brace.

  12. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Sensor 2) 
    1. Disconnect the 2 grommets from the floor panel.
    2. Using SST, loosen the 2 sensors, and then disconnect the sensor by hand.

      SST 09224-00010 

      NOTE: Do not strike the metal part of the sensor.

  13. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Temporarily loosen the 8 bolts on the tailpipe and manifold sides.
    2. Remove the 4 nuts and 4 bolts from the exhaust manifold LH and RH side.
    3. Remove the 4 bolts from the tailpipe LH and RH side. Then remove the front exhaust pipe.
    4. Remove the 2 gaskets from the exhaust manifold side and the 2 gaskets from the tailpipe side.
  14. REMOVE TAILPIPE LH 
    1. Disconnect the 3 exhaust pipe supports to remove the tailpipe.
  15. REMOVE TAILPIPE RH 
    1. Disconnect the 3 exhaust pipe supports to remove the tailpipe.

  16. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and bracket.
