System Description

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS 
    MAIN COMPONENTS FUNCTION CHART

    Components Function
    Multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU This ECU sends control signal to power tilt motor and the power telescopic motor, based on signals from each switch, to adjust steering position.
    Power tilt motor (with tilt position sensor) This motor is activated by signal from multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU and adjusts the tilt position.
    The tilt position sensor in motor detects tilt position by counting number of pulses as motor rotates.
    Power telescopic motor (with telescopic position sensor) This motor is activated by signal from the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU and adjusts telescopic position.
    The telescopic position sensor in motor detects telescopic position by counting number of pulses as the motor rotates.
  2. MANUAL OPERATION 
    1. The tilt and telescopic positions can be adjusted as desired by operating the tilt and telescopic switch.
  3. AUTO AWAY/RETURN FUNCTION 
    1. When the engine switch is turned off, the steering column moves forward, away from the driver, and also tilts up for easy ingress and egress.
    2. When the engine switch is turned on (IG), the steering column returns to the previously set position.
    3. The auto away/return function can be prohibited by using the Techstream.
  4. DRIVING POSITION MEMORY FUNCTION (with Seat Position Memory System) 
    1. The steering column moves to the previously set position by pressing the seat memory switches.
