Steering Wheel: Removal
- REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH (See REMOVAL )
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- REMOVE SWITCH AND VOLUME CASE
- Using a screwdriver, remove the switch and volume case.

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the switch and volume case.
- REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER
- Using a screwdriver, remove the No. 2 steering wheel cover.

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the No. 2 steering wheel cover.
- REMOVE STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY
- Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, loosen the 2 "TORX" screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case.
- Pull out the steering pad from the steering wheel assembly and support the steering pad with one hand as shown in the illustration.NOTE: When removing the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.
- Disconnect the horn connector.
- Disconnect the 2 connectors and remove the steering pad.
NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
- Remove the steering wheel set nut.
- Put matchmarks on the steering wheel and main shaft.
- Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.
SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05011)
- REMOVE STEERING SHAKE DAMPER
- Remove the 2 screws and shake damper.
- REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH MODULATOR
- Disconnect the 2 connectors and remove the 4 screws and steering pad switch.
- REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the connector and remove the 2 screws and cruise control main switch.
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL HEATER CONTROLLER
- Disconnect the 2 connectors and remove the 2 screws and heater control.
