Combination Meter: Removal

NOTE:
  • Make sure the combination meter glass and meter display panel does not become dirty with fingerprints, oil, etc. If dirty, clean with a soft cloth.
  • Be careful of static electricity when handling the meter ECU and meter display panel. Make sure the work area has static electricity prevention measures.
CAUTION: Do not touch any parts of the circuit of the meter display panel and condenser. Even if the power switch is off, the meter display panel and condenser are electrically charged.
  1. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  2. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    1. Disable the AUTO TILT AWAY function by changing the customize parameter (see CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS )
      NOTE: Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the AUTO TILT AWAY function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.

      HINT:

      Performing the above operation causes the AUTO TILT AWAY function to be disabled when the power switch is turned OFF.

    2. Turn the power switch ON (IG) Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.
    3. Turn the power switch OFF and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
    NOTE:
    • After the power switch is turned OFF, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch OFF, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).
  4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH 
    1. Detach the 6 clips and remove the side panel.

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOLDING 
    1. Detach the 2 clips and remove the molding

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the claw.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use

    2. Remove the hole cover
    3. Remove the 2 screws
    4. Detach the 5 clips and claw
    5. Remove the safety pad and then disconnect the connectors

  7. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/o Driver Monitor Camera)  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/ Driver Monitor Camera)  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 clips
    2. Place protective tape as shown in the illustration

    3. Detach the clip on the right side
      NOTE: Pulling with excessive force will cause damage to the surface of the instrument panel safety pad.

    4. Detach the clip on the left side
      NOTE: Pulling with excessive force will cause damage to the surface of the instrument panel safety pad.

    5. Hold the back of the trip switch on the finish panel with your right hand, and disconnect the connector with your left hand.

    6. Hold the back of the light control rheostat on the finish panel with your right hand, and disconnect the connector with your left hand.

    7. Rotate the finish panel as shown in the illustration to remove it.

  11. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 screws.

    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the combination meter.
