Light Control Rheostat: Inspection

  1. INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      3 (UP) - 5 (E) UP ON (Pushed) Below 200 Ω
      UP OFF (Not pushed) 1 MΩ or higher
      7 (DOWN) - 5 (E) DOWN ON (Pushed) Below 200 Ω
      DOWN OFF (Not pushed) 1 MΩ or higher
      2 (B) - 5 (E) CLEANER ON (Pushed) Below 200 Ω
      CLEANER OFF (Not pushed) 1 MΩ or higher

      If the result is not as specified, replace the rheostat.

    2. Inspect the switch illumination.
      1. Apply battery voltage between the terminals of the light, and check the operation of the rheostat.

    OK 

    TERMINALS REFERENCE CHART

    Measurement Condition Specified Condition
    Battery positive (+) → Terminal 8 (ILL+)
    Battery negative (-) → Terminal 6 (ILL-)
    LED illuminates

    NOTE:
    • If the positive (+) lead and the negative (-) lead are incorrectly connected, the LED will not illuminate.
    • If the voltage is too low, the LED will not illuminate.

    If the result is not as specified, replace the rheostat
