On-Vehicle Inspection

CHECK INTAKE AIR CONTROL FUNCTION
1. Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3
2. Turn the power switch ON (IG)
3. Push the tester main switch ON.
4. Enter the following menus.
  1. Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / INTAKE CTL VSV1.
  2. Techstream - Select Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Activate the VSV for Intake Control.
5. When power is supplied, check that the actuator rod operates.

INSPECT AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT
1. Check that the air cleaners are not excessively dirty. If either air cleaner is excessively dirty, replace both air cleaners.
CHECK AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM
HINT

The illustration shows the areas that may draw in secondary air, which could lead to idling problems.
1. Check that the hoses, gaskets and O-rings are installed correctly.
2. Check for cracks, etc. in the hoses, gaskets and O-rings.
