On-Vehicle Inspection

HINT:

When viewed from the rear of the engine assembly, Bank 1 is on the left side and Bank 2 is on the right side.

1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY 
   1. Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
   2. Put the engine in inspection mode (see INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE ).
   3. Start the engine and turn the tester ON.
   4. Warm up the engine
   5. Idle the engine.
   6. Enter the following menus:
      1. Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / VVT EX B1 or VVT EX B2.
      2. Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 1) or Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 2).

         HINT:

         • VVT EX B1: Command to activate exhaust side oil control valve of bank 1.
         • VVT EX B2. Command to activate exhaust side oil control valve of bank 2.
   7. Check the engine speed while operating the Oil Control Valve (OCV) using the tester.

      If the result is not as specified, check the oil control valve, oil control valve filter, wirings and camshaft timing exhaust gear
