Ignition Coil And Spark Plug: Removal

NOTE: While the battery is connected, even if the power switch is OFF, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch turns on. Therefore during servicing of the brake system components, do not operate the brake pedal or open/ close the doors while the battery is connected.
  1. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  2. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
    NOTE:
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).
    • After the power switch is turned OFF, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch OFF, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  4. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE  (See REMOVAL )
  11. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  12. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL )
  13. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH  (See REMOVAL )
  14. REMOVE MOTOR CABLE COVER RH  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE INVERTER COVER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  16. REMOVE CONNECTOR COVER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  17. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE  (See REMOVAL )
  18. INSTALL CONNECTOR COVER ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  19. REMOVE INVERTER TERMINAL COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  20. DISCONNECT MOTOR CABLE  (See REMOVAL )
  21. DISCONNECT GENERATOR CABLE  (See REMOVAL )
  22. DISCONNECT INLET INVERTER COOLING PIPE 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the inlet inverter cooling pipe

  23. DISCONNECT FRAME WIRE 
    1. Remove the No 1 relay block cover.
    2. Remove the 2 nuts from the No 1 relay block

    4. Detach the 2 claws to disconnect the frame wire from the No 1 relay block.
  24. DISCONNECT NO. 1 MOTOR COOLING PIPE  (See REMOVAL )
  25. REMOVE SKID CONTROL ECU  (See REMOVAL )
  26. DISCONNECT NO. 3 RELAY BLOCK  (See REMOVAL )
  27. DISCONNECT BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR  (See REMOVAL )
  28. REMOVE SKID CONTROL ECU BRACKET  (See REMOVAL )
  29. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE  (See REMOVAL )
  30. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL )
  31. REMOVE NO. 5 COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  32. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  33. REMOVE NO. 6 COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  34. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 8 ignition coil connectors.

    3. Remove the 8 bolts
    4. Using a screwdriver, pry at the cutouts to remove the 8 ignition coils together with the 8 spark plug tube gaskets
      NOTE: Do not damage the cylinder head cover when removing the spark plug tube gasket.

      HINT.

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  35. REMOVE SPARK PLUG 
    1. Using a 16 mm plug wrench, remove the 8 spark plugs
