Front Acceleration Sensor: Removal

  1. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  2. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
    NOTE:
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).
    • After the power switch is turned OFF, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch OFF, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOLDING  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE ACCELERATION SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the sensor connector
    2. Remove the bolt and acceleration sensor with bracket from the instrument panel reinforcement.
      NOTE:
      • Avoid any impact to the acceleration sensor.
      • Do not drop the acceleration sensor. If it is dropped, replace it with a new one.
      • The acceleration sensor removed from the vehicle must not be placed upside down.
