Inspection Procedure

  1. INSPECT RADIO RECEIVER 
    1. Disconnect the L23 selector connector.
    2. Using an oscilloscope, check the signal waveform between each terminal and body ground according to the conditions shown in the chart below.

      OK 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L23-13 (L6-) - Body ground Audio sound is being produced A waveform synchronized with sound is output
      L23-14 (L6+) - Body ground
      L23-15 (R6-) - Body ground
      L23-16 (R6+) - Body ground

    NG: Go to step 2 

    OK: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY SELECTOR  (See REMOVAL  )

  2. CHECK VEHICLE EQUIPMENT 
    1. Check if the SDARS system is equipped on the vehicle.

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      w/ SDARS System A
      w/o SDARS System B

    B:  Go to step  5

    A: Go to next Step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - STEREO COMPONENT TUNER AND MULTI-DISPLAY SELECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the F24 receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the L37 and L39 tuner connectors.
    3. Disconnect the L23 selector connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F24-2 (CDR+) - L37-2 (FRO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F24-3 (CDR-) - L37-3 (FRO-)
      F24-4 (CDL+) - L37-4 (FLO+)
      F24-5 (CDL-) - L37-5 (FLO-)
      L39-10 (FRI+) - L23-16 (R6+)
      L39-9 (FRI-) - L23-15 (R6-)
      L39-8 (FLI+) - L23-14 (L6+)
      L39-7 (FLI-) - L23-13 (L6-)
      L37-1 (SLD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L37-2 (FRO+) - Body ground
      L37-3 (FRO-) - Body ground
      L37-4 (FLO+) - Body ground
      L37-5 (FLO-) - Body ground
      L23-16 (R6+) - Body ground
      L23-15 (R6-) - Body ground
      L23-14 (L6+) - Body ground
      L23-13 (L6-) - Body ground
      L23-17 (SLD6) - Body ground

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next Step 

  4. CHECK STEREO COMPONENT TUNER (OPERATION) 
    1. Replace the stereo component tuner with a normal one and check if the same problem occurs again (See REMOVAL  ).

      OK: Same problem does not occur. 

    NG: REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: END (STEREO COMPONENT TUNER IS DEFECTIVE) 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - MULTI-DISPLAY SELECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the F24 receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the L23 selector connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F24-2 (CDR+) - L23-16 (R6+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F24-3 (CDR-) - L23-15 (R6-)
      F24-4 (CDL+) - L23-14 (L6+)
      F24-5 (CDL-) - L23-13 (L6-)
      L23-13 (L6-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L23-14 (L6+) - Body ground
      L23-15 (R6-) - Body ground
      L23-16 (R6+) - Body ground
      L23-17 (SLD6) - Body ground

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )
