Windshield Glass: Removal
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation (See PRECAUTION ).
- REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM LH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM RH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH
- REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH
- REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH
- REMOVE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY LH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY RH
- REMOVE VISOR HOLDER (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE RAIN SENSOR (w/ Auto Wiper) (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE WINDSHIELD MOLDING OUTSIDE
- Using a knife, cut off the molding.
NOTE: Do not damage the vehicle body with the knife.
- Remove the remaining molding from the vehicle body.
HINT:
When removing, make a partial cut, then pull and remove it by hand.
- Disconnect the connector (w/ Deicer).
- Using a knife, cut off the molding.
- REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS
- Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and glass from the interior.
- Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.
NOTE:
- When separating the glass, take care not to damage the paint and the interior and exterior ornaments.
- To prevent the safety pad from being scratched when removing the glass, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and safety pad.
HINT:
Apply protective tape to the outer surface to prevent the surface from being scratched.
- Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the glass.
- Disengage the stoppers.
- Using a suction cup, remove the glass.NOTE: Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the glass.
- REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS RETAINER
- Remove the windshield glass retainer.
- REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS NO.2 STOPPER
- Using a scraper, remove the windshield glass No.2 stoppers.
- REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS NO.1 STOPPER
- Remove the windshield glass Not stoppers.
- CLEAN WINDSHIELD GLASS
- Using a scraper, remove the damaged stoppers, dam and adhesive sticking to the glass.
- Clean the outer circumference of the glass with a non-residue solvent.
