Shift Lever: Disassembly

REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING
1. Disengage the 6 claws and remove the position indicator housing from the shift lever assembly.

REMOVE SHIFT LEVER CAP
1. Using a screwdriver, remove the shift lever cap from the position indicator housing.

REMOVE NO. 1 PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY
1. Remove the No. 1 pattern select switch assembly from the position indicator housing.

REMOVE NO. 1 SHIFT LOCK RELEASE LINK
1. Remove the shift lock release link, spring, and cover from the position indicator housing.

REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR LIGHT GUIDE
1. Remove the indicator light wire sub-assembly from the shift lever assembly.

2. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the position indicator light guide from the shift lever assembly.

REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR SLIDE COVER
1. Remove the position indicator slide cover from the position indicator housing lower.

REMOVE NO. 2 POSITION INDICATOR SLIDE COVER
1. Remove the position indicator slide cover from the No. 2 position indicator slide cover.

REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING LOWER
1. Remove the position indicator housing lower from the shift lock control unit.

REMOVE INDICATOR LIGHT WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY
1. Gate shift lever:
  1. Remove the connector from the shift lever assembly.

2. Shift lever with multi-mode automatic transmission:
  1. Remove the connector from the shift lever assembly.
  2. Using a screwdriver, release the stopper of the connector.
  3. Using a screwdriver, disengage the locking lug of terminals (1) and (6), and pull the terminals out from the back of the connector.
