Inspection Procedure

  1. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check if other DTCs are recorded (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      Result 

      DTC RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are not output A
      DTCs are output B

    B: REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTCS (See  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART   ) 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT BRAKE PEDAL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE: Do not disassemble the brake pedal sub-assembly.

    HINT:

    Replace the brake pedal sub-assembly when there is a malfunction in the brake pedal load sensing switch.

    1. Disconnect the brake pedal load sensing switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE REFERENCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B8-2 (FSW+) - B8-1 (GND) Depress brake pedal Approx. 1,000 Ω
      Release brake pedal Approx. 213 Ω

    NG: REPLACE BRAKE PEDAL SUB-ASSEMBLY (BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SWITCH)  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector and the brake pedal load sensing switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE REFERENCE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S1-7 (FSW+) - B8-2 (FSW+) Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE REFERENCE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S1-7 (FSW+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SWITCH) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE REFERENCE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      B8-1 (GND) - Body ground Below 1 Ω
    2. Connect the brake pedal load sensing switch connector.
    3. Connect the skid control ECU connector.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 

    OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL   )
