Fuel Injector: Installation

  1. INSTALL FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Apply a light coat of spindle oil or gasoline to new O-rings, and install them to each injector.

    2. Apply a light coat of spindle oil or gasoline where the fuel delivery pipe contacts the O-ring.
    3. Push the fuel injector while turning it to install the injector in the fuel delivery pipe.
    4. Position the fuel injector connector outward.
      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to twist the O-ring.
      • After installing the fuel injector, check that it turns smoothly. If not, reinstall it with a new O-ring.

    5. Install 6 new insulators to the intake manifold.

    6. Place the fuel delivery pipe and the 6 fuel injectors together to the intake manifold.
      NOTE: Be careful not to drop the fuel injectors when installing the fuel delivery pipe.

    7. Temporarily install the 5 bolts which are used to hold the fuel delivery pipe to the intake manifold.
      NOTE: After installing the fuel injector, check that it turns smoothly. If not, reinstall it with a new O-ring.
    8. Tighten the 5 bolts which are used to hold the fuel delivery pipe to the intake manifold.

      Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

    9. Connect the 6 fuel injector connectors.

  2. CONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Push in the tube connector to the pipe until the tube connector makes a "click" sound.
      NOTE:
      • Before connecting the tube, make sure that it is not damaged. Make sure that there is no dirt present on the connecting surfaces.
      • After connecting, check if the fuel tube connector and the pipe are securely connected by pulling on them.
    2. Install the No. 2 fuel pipe clamp.

  3. INSTALL INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  4. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. INSTALL COWL TOP PANEL OUTER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  6. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  7. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  8. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH 
  9. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH 
  10. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  11. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  12. ADD ENGINE COOLANT  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  13. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL  (See INSTALLATION )
  14. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  15. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKS  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  )
  16. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  17. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM COVER SIDE  (See INSTALLATION )
  18. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization procedure (See INITIALIZATION ).

      HINT:

      Some systems need initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.
