Front Axle Hub: Removal

HINT:

• Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
• The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
• A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart (see SPECIFIED TORQUE FOR STANDARD BOLTS ).

1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 
2. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
3. DISCONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH 
   1. Remove the 2 bolts and brake cylinder from the steering knuckle.
   2. Support the brake cylinder securely.

4. REMOVE FRONT BRAKE DISC 
5. REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE ASSEMBLY LH 
   1. Remove the clip and nut of the upper side.
   2. Using SST, disconnect the steering knuckle from the upper suspension arm.

   3. Remove the 2 bolts and steering knuckle from the lower ball joint.

6. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB GREASE CAP LH 
   1. Using a screwdriver, pry out the grease cap from the steering knuckle.
7. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB NUT LH 
   1. Clamp the axle hub in a soft jaw vise.
      NOTE: Close the vise until it holds the hub bolt. Do not tighten excessively.
   2. Using a chisel and hammer, loosen the staked part of the lock nut.
   3. Using a 36 mm socket wrench, remove the lock nut.

8. REMOVE FRONT SKID CONTROL ROTOR 
9. DISCONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER LH 
   1. Remove the 4 bolts and shift the brake dust cover toward the outside.
10. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Using SST, remove the axle hub from the steering knuckle.

       SST 09950-40011 (09951-04020,09952-04010, 09953-04020, 09954-04010, 09955-04071, 09957-04010, 09958-04011)

11. REMOVE BEARING INNER RACE 
    1. Using SST, remove the inner race from the axle hub.

       SST 09950-40011 (09951-04020,09952-04010, 09953-04020, 09954-04010, 09955-04061, 09957-04010, 09958-04011)

12. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB OIL SEAL LH 
    1. Using SST, remove the oil seal from the steering knuckle.

       SST 09308-00010

13. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB HOLE SNAP RING LH 
    1. Using snap ring pliers, remove the snap ring.
14. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING LH 
    1. Using SST and a press, press out the bearing from the steering knuckle.

       SST 09950-60010(09951-00560)
