Rear Axle Hub: Installation

  1. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT BEARING LH 
    1. Using SST and a press, press in a new axle shaft bearing to the axle carrier.

      SST 09527-17011, 09950-60020 (09951 -00810), 09950-70010 (09951-07100) 

  2. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT SNAP RING LH 
    1. Using snap ring pliers, install the snap ring to the axle carrier.

  3. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT LH 
    1. Install the backing plate with the 2 bolts and nuts.

      Torque: 59 N*m (602 kgf*cm, 44 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Using SST and a press, press in the axle shaft to the axle carrier.

      SST 09527-17011, 09950-60010 (09951 -00650), 09950-70010 (09951-07100, 09951-07100)

  4. INSTALL REAR NO. 2 WHEEL BEARING DUST DEFLECTOR LH 
    1. Align the speed sensor installation hole of the dust deflector and that of the axle carrier.
    2. Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new dust deflector to the axle carrier.

      SST 09950-60020, 09950-60020 (09951 -01030), 09950-70010 (09951-07100) 

  5. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Attach the spline of the rear drive shaft to the rear axle carrier and insert the rear drive shaft assembly.
    2. Install the rear suspension arm to the rear axle carrier.

    3. Align the matchmarks of the camber adjust cam and rear axle carrier, and loosely install the nut.
  6. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Connect the upper control arm to the rear axle carrier, and loosely install a new nut.
  7. CONNECT TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Connect the toe control link to the rear axle carrier, and install a new nut.

      Torque: 59 N*m (602 kgf*cm, 44 ft.*lbf) 

  8. TIGHTEN REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH 

    Torque: 108 N*m (1,101 kgf*cm, 80 ft.*lbf)

  9. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Connect the rear suspension arm and loosely install the bolt and a new nut.
  10. CONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  11. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the parking brake (see INSPECTION ).
  12. INSTALL REAR DISC

  13. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Connect the brake cylinder to the axle carrier with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 104 N*m (1,061 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf) 

  14. INSPECT AND ADJUST PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL 
    1. Inspect and adjust the parking brake pedal travel (see PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM ).
  15. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT LH 
    1. While depressing the brake pedal, install the nut.

      Torque: 289 N*m (2,947 kgf*cm, 213 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Install the lock cap and a new cotter pin.
      NOTE: If the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned, tighten the nut an additional 60°.

  16. INSTALL REAR WHEEL 

    Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf) 

  17. STABILIZE SUSPENSION 
    1. Lower the vehicle.
    2. Press down on the vehicle several times to stabilize the suspension.
  18. TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 

    Torque: 110 N*m (1,122 kgf*cm, 81 ft.*lbf) 

  19. TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 

    Torque: 75 N*m (765 kgf*cm, 55 ft.*lbf) 

  20. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT 
    1. Inspect and adjust the rear wheel alignment (see REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT ).
  21. INSPECT ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL 
    1. Inspect the ABS speed sensor signal (see DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).
