Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR ANY FOREIGN OBJECT 
    1. Check that no foreign object is in the steering pad switch cover.

      OK: 

      No foreign object. 

    NG: REMOVE FOREIGN OBJECT 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL CENTER - SPIRAL CABLE) 
    1. Disconnect the M6 panel connector.

    2. Disconnect the C10 cable connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      M6-2 (TLSW) - C10-7 (TLSW) Below 1 Ω
      M6-3 (TLSW-) - C10-3 (ECC) Below 1 Ω
      M6-3 (TLSW-) - Body ground Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK STEERING PAD SWITCH MODULATOR (TEL 2 VOLTAGE)

    1. Measure the voltage of the switch.

      Standard voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      6 (TLSW) - 4 (ECC2) Steering pad TEL switch not pushed Below 5 V
      6 (TLSW) - 4 (ECC2) Steering pad TEL switch pushed Below 1 V

    NG: REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH MODULATOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    1. Disconnect the switch connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the switch.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A-7 (TLSW) - B-6 (TLSW) Below 1 Ω
      A-3 (ECC) - B-4 (ECC2) Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Disconnect the cable connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the cable.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      C10-3 (ECC) - A-3 (ECC) Below 1 Ω
      C10-7 (TLSW) - A-7 (TLSW) Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
