Section 20 (Engine Control System (Service Information)): ECM: Removal: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

  2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 15
  3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 17
  4. REMOVE ECM BOX COVER

      NOTE:
      • Remove all water on and around the cover.
      • Perform the inspection indoors to avoid rain.
      • Be sure to prevent water intrusion to the ECM (connectors and screw parts).
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and cover.
  5. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS

    1. Using a screw driver, detach the 2 claws.

      HINT: 

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Disconnect the 2 connector holders.
    3. Disconnect the 6 connectors.
  6. REMOVE ECM

    1. Remove the 2 nuts and ECM.
