Manual Up / Down Function Does Not Operate On Driver Side: Procedure

  1. CHECK POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH 
    1. Using the Techstream, check operation of the master switch using the Data List.

      Standard

      DRIVER DOOR:

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Door P/W Auto SW Driver side power window auto UP/DOWN switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Driver side power window auto UP/DOWN switch on master switch operated
      OFF: Driver side power window switch on master switch not operated
      -

    NG → See step   3 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH - POWER WINDOW MOTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the D18 master switch connector.

    2. Remove the front door trim LH.
    3. Disconnect the P10 power window motor connector.
    4. Check the continuity between the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance

      Terminal No. Specified Condition
      D18-11 - P10-1 Below 1 Ω
      D18-1 - P10-2 Below 1 Ω
      D18-1 - Body ground No continuity
      D18-11 - Body ground No continuity
    5. Reference:

      Check operation of the power window motor (driver side).

      1. Remove the motor.
      2. Apply battery voltage to the connector between terminals 1 and 2.
      3. Check that the motor rotates smoothly.
        NOTE:

        Do not apply battery voltage to the terminals except 1 and 2.

        Standard

        Terminal No. Motor Gear Rotation
        Battery positive voltage → 2
        Battery negative voltage → 1
        Clockwise
        Battery positive voltage → 1
        Battery negative voltage → 2
        Counterclockwise

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR (DRIVER SIDE) 

  3. INSPECT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (FOR GROUND) 
    1. Remove the master switch (the connector is connected).

    2. Check the continuity between terminal 2 and the body ground.

      Standard

      Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (FOR POWER SOURCE) 
    1. Check the voltage between the terminals.

      Standard voltage

      Terminal No. Condition Specified Condition
      9 - 2 Constant 10 to 14 V
      20 - 2 Ignition ON 10 to 14 V
      10 - 2 Constant 10 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    OK → REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH
