Light Control Rheostat: Inspection

  1. INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT (w/o Headlight Cleaner System) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      3 (UP) - 5 (E) UP ON (Pushed) Below 200 Ω
      3 (UP) - 5 (E) UP OFF (Not pushed) 1MΩ or higher
      7 (DOWN) - 5 (E) DOWN ON (Pushed) Below 200 Ω
      7 (DOWN) - 5 (E) DOWN OFF (Not pushed) 1MΩ or higher

      If the result is not as specified, replace the rheostat.

    2. Inspect the switch illumination.
      1. Connect the battery positive (+) lead to terminal 8 (ILL+) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 6 (ILL-), then check that the light comes on.

        OK: 

        LED comes on. 

        If the result is not as specified, replace the rheostat.

  2. INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT (w/ Headlight Cleaner System) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      3 (UP) - 5 (E) UP ON (Pushed) Below 200 Ω
      3 (UP) - 5 (E) UP OFF (Not pushed) 1MΩ or higher
      7 (DOWN) - 5 (E) DOWN ON (Pushed) Below 200 Ω
      7 (DOWN) - 5 (E) DOWN OFF (Not pushed) 1MΩ or higher
      2 (B) - 5 (E) CLEANER ON (Pushed) Below 200 Ω
      2 (B) - 5 (E) CLEANER OFF (Not pushed) 1 MΩ or higher

      If the result is not as specified, replace the rheostat.

    2. Inspect the switch illumination.
      1. Connect the battery positive (+) lead to terminal 8 (ILL+) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 6 (ILL-), then check that the light comes on.

        OK: 

        LED comes on. 

        If the result is not as specified, replace the rheostat.
