Park/Neutral Position Switch: Removal

  1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER  (See REMOVAL )
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    NOTE:
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
    • After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  3. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front exhaust pipe (See REMOVAL ).
  4. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR NO. 1 HEAT INSULATOR  (See REMOVAL )
  5. DISCONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the nut and disconnect the floor shift gear shifting rod.

  6. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the switch connector.
    2. Remove the nut, spring washer and transmission control shaft lever.

    3. Using a screwdriver, bend the tabs of the lock washer.

    4. Remove the lock nut and lock washer.

    5. Remove the bolt and switch.
