System Outline

This main purpose of this system is to provide communication between the vehicles and exclusive service centers.

  1. Emergency Call Functions
    1. Automatic emergency call in conjunction with airbag deployment

When a crash signal is sent to this system from the airbag ECU assembly, an emergency call is automatically made to the call center and the vehicle location and user information is sent as a data signal. After that, a call is made to a call center operator to provide verbal assistance.

    2. Manual emergency call

When the system registers that the emergency button has been pressed, a call is made to the call center and the vehicle location and user information is sent as a data signal. After that, a call is made to a call center operator to provide verbal assistance.

  2. Security and Safety Functions
    1. Tracking a stolen car

When a call center operator is informed by a user that their car has been stolen, the operator contacts the car's security system and obtains the current vehicle location information from the GPS and begin tracking the car. The operator can contact the police or other agencies if necessary. The call center can also monitor any sounds in the stolen car.

    2. Remote door lock/unlock

If the system receives a door lock/unlock signal from the call center, it locks/unlocks the vehicle doors through the vehicle LAN.

    3. Remote alarm

If the system receives a signal from the call center to activate the alarm, it uses the vehicle LAN to begin flashing the lights and honking the horn.

    4. Road service

A call center operator can send the nearest road service vehicle to the site upon receiving a request from a user.

    5. Coping with an accident

By pushing the service button after a vehicle accident, a user can contact the call center through the system. The operator can then inform the police, emergency center, insurance company, family, etc. as necessary.

  3. Driver Assistance Functions
    1. Navigation (Voice)

By pushing the service button when a user is lost, they can contact the call center. They can then have the operator manually direct them to their destination using the latest map on the operator's computer.

    2. Shopping information (Voice)

By pushing the service button, a user can connect to the call center and request information about nearby ATMs, gas stations, hotels, restaurants, etc. from the operator.

    3. Driver assistance

If a user is in a condition where they are unable to drive, pushing the service button will connect them to the call center. They can then ask the operator to arrange a taxi.

  4. Convenience Functions
    1. Concierge

Pushing the service button connects a user to the call center. He/she can ask the operator to arrange services such as hotel reservations, flower delivery, theater ticket reservations, taxis, and so on.

    2. Advisor record

By pushing the service button during a conversation with a call center operator, the conversation can be recorded. The recorded data can later be played back by using the voice recognition system.

  5. Other Services
    1. Personal calling: PC

A user can make a hands free call to most telephones via this prepaid system.

    2. Diagnosis function

Using a special button sequence, a system diagnosis can be made using the indicators.
