On-Vehicle Inspection
HINT:
When viewed from the rear of the engine assembly, Bank 1 is on the left side and Bank 2 is on the right side.
- INSPECT CAM TIMING CONTROL WITH EDU MOTOR ASSEMBLY
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Turn the Techstream ON.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine and ECT/DATA LIST/VVT-iE Mot Direction B1 or VVT-iE Mot Direction B2.

If not as specified, replace the cam timing control with EDU motor assembly. If symptoms still do not disappear, replace the wire harness.
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Put the engine inspection mode. Refer to INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE .
- Turn the Techstream ON.
- Warm up the engine.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine and ECT/Active Test/Control the VVT-iE Linear (Bank 1) or Control the VVT-iE Linear (Bank 2)/All Data/VVT-iE Aim Angle (Bank 1) and VVT Change Angle (Bank 1) or VVT-iE Aim Angle (Bank 2) and VVT Change Angle (Bank 2).
- Perform the Active Test operation with the engine speed at 1500 rpm.
