Steering Column Assembly: Installation

  1. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the steering column assembly with the 4 nuts.

      Torque: 26 N*m (260 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf)

    2. Connect the connectors and wire harness clamps to the steering column assembly.
  2. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the clamp to the steering column hole cover

    2. Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and the steering column.
    3. Install the bolt.

      Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf)

    4. Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and the steering link.
    5. Install the bolt.

      Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

  3. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  4. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Attach the 2 claws to install the air duct.
    2. Install the bolt.

      Torque: 9.8 N*m (100 kgf*cm, 87 in.*lbf)

    3. Attach the 2 claws and install the wiring harness protector.
  5. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  6. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  7. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )

  8. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING  (See INSTALLATION )
  9. INSTALL INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  10. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  11. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering column assembly with the clamp.
    2. Connect the connectors to the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly

  12. INSTALL TILT AND TELESCOPIC SWITCH 
    1. Attach the claw to install the switch
    2. Connect the switch connector.

  13. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/o Driver Monitor Camera) 
    1. Attach the claw to install the upper steering column cover.
    2. Attach the 4 clips to install the upper steering column cover onto the instrument cluster finish panel.

    3. Attach the 2 claws to install the lower steering column cover.
      NOTE: Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch.
    4. Install the 3 screws.

      Torque: 2.0 N*m (20 kgf*cm, 18 in.*lbf) 

  14. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/ Driver Monitor Camera) 
    1. Connect the driver monitor connector

    2. Attach the claw to install the upper steering column cover.
    3. Attach the 4 clips to install the upper steering column cover onto the instrument cluster finish panel.

    4. Attach the 2 claws to install the lower steering column cover.
      NOTE: Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch.
    5. Install the 3 screws.

      Torque: 2.0 N*m (20 kgf*cm, 18 in.*lbf) 

  15. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB- ASSEMBLY  (See INSPECTION )

  16. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft assembly
    2. Install the steering wheel assembly set nut.

      Torque: 50 N*m (510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf) 

  17. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
  18. INSPECT STEERING PAD 
    1. Inspect the steering pad (see ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ).
  19. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL PAD  (See INSTALLATION )

  20. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER  (See INSTALLATION )
  21. INSTALL SWITCH AND VOLUME CASE  (See INSTALLATION )
  22. CHECK FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  23. INSTALL FRONT WHEELS 

    Torque: 140 N*m (1428 kgf*cm, 103 ft.*lbf) 

  24. INSTALL SERVICE PLUG GRIP  (See INSTALLATION )
  25. INSTALL BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER  (See INSTALLATION )
  26. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:
    • Reset the AUTO TILT AWAY function setting to the previous condition by changing the customize parameter (see CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS  ).
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).
  27. INSTALL BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  28. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  29. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Inspect the SRS warning light (see DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).
