Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Lexus LS 600hL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: When using the Intelligent tester or Techstream with the power switch OFF to troubleshoot:
Connect the Intelligent tester or Techstream to the vehicle, and turn a courtesy switch on and off at 1.5 second intervals until communication between the tester and vehicle begins.
  1. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).
  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

    Result: 

    RESULT REFERENCE

    Result Proceed to
    DTC U0211, U0246, U1130 and U1131 output occurs A
    DTC U0211, U0246, U1130 or U1131 output occurs B
    No DTC output occurs C

    B: GO TO DTC CHART  (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )

    C: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR POWER SEAT MODULE SWITCH - POSITION CONTROL ECU LH) 
    1. Disconnect the z54*1 or S15*2 module switch connectors.
    2. Disconnect the f5 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard resistance 

    w/o Ottoman: 

    RESISTANCE REFERENCE

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    z54-6 (LIN) - f5-7 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
    z54-6 (LIN) or f5-7 (LIN) -Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    w/ Ottoman: 

    RESISTANCE REFERENCE

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    S15-3 (LIN) - f5-7 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
    S15-3 (LIN) or f5-7 (LIN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Standard voltage 

    w/o Ottoman: 

    VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    z54-6 (LIN) or f5-7 (LIN) - Body ground Always Below 1 V

    w/ Ottoman: 

    VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    S15-3 (LIN) or f5-7 (LIN) - Body ground Always Below 1 V

    NG:  Go to step  4

    OK: REPLACE REAR POWER SEAT MODULE SWITCH  (See REMOVAL )

  4. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Reconnect the z54*1 or S15*2 module switch connectors.

      HINT:

      *1. w/o Ottoman

      *2 w/Ottoman

    2. Clear the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR )
  5. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Disconnect the f5 ECU connector
    2. Recheck for DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR )

    Result: 

    RESULT REFERENCE

    Result Proceed to
    DTC U0211, U0246, U1130 and U1131 output occurs A
    DTC U0211 output occurs B

    B: REPLACE POSITION CONTROL ECU RH 

    A: Go to next step 

  6. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Reconnect the f5 ECU connector
    2. Clear the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR )
  7. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Disconnect the f25 ECU connector
    2. Recheck for DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR )

    Result: 

    RESULT REFERENCE

    Result Proceed to
    DTC U0211, U0246, U1130 and U1131 output occurs A
    DTC U0246 output occurs B

    B: REPLACE POSITION CONTROL ECU LH 

    A: Go to next step 

  8. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Reconnect the f25 ECU connector
    2. Clear the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR )
  9. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Disconnect the f8 ECU connector
    2. Recheck for DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR )

    Result: 

    RESULT REFERENCE

    Result Proceed to
    DTC U0211, U0246, U1130 and U1131 output occurs A
    DTC U1130 output occurs B

    B: REPLACE REAR SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL ECU RH 

    A: Go to next step 

  10. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Reconnect the f8 ECU connector
    2. Clear the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR )
  11. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Disconnect the f13*1 or f28*2 ECU connector
    2. Recheck for DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

    Result: 

    RESULT REFERENCE

    Result Proceed to
    DTC U0211, U0246, U1130 and U1131 output occurs A
    DTC U1131 output occurs B

    HINT:

    • *1 w/o Climate Control Seat System
    • *2 w/ Climate Control Seat System

    B: REPLACE REAR SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL ECU LH 

    A: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
