Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Lexus LS 600hL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK IF RADIO AUTO-SEARCH FUNCTIONS PROPERLY 
    1. Perform the auto-search of the radio and check that it functions normally.

      OK: Radio auto-search functions normally. 

    NG: Go to step 2 

    OK: REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

  2. CHECK OPTIONAL COMPONENTS 
    1. Check if the telephone antenna, and other optional components are installed.

      OK: Optional component(s) installed. 

    NG: Go to step 3 

    OK: EFFECT FROM OPTIONAL COMPONENTS 

  3. CHECK ANTENNA FOR NOISE PRODUCTION 
    1. With the power switch ON (ACC), turn on the radio and choose the AM mode.
    2. Place the tip of a screwdriver on the antenna and check that noise is heard from the speakers

      OK: Noise is heard. 

    NG: Go to step 4 

    OK: REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

  4. CHECK RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (ANTENNA)

    1. Remove the antenna plug of the radio receiver
    2. With the radio receiver connector connected, turn the power switch ON (ACC).
    3. Turn on the radio and choose the AM mode.
    4. Place a flat-head screwdriver or a piece of metal, such as a thin wire, on the antenna jack of the radio receiver. Check that noise is heard from the speakers.

      OK: Noise is heard. 

    NG: REPLACE ANTENNA ASSEMBLY AND ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )
