Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK SPEAKER 
    1. Check the malfunctioning speakers

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Malfunction in front speaker area A
      Malfunction in rear speaker area B

    B:  Go to step  12

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK SPEAKER 
    1. Check the malfunctioning speakers

      Result

      Front No 3 speaker A
      Front No 2 speaker B
      Front No 1 speaker C

    B:  Go to step  5

    C:  Go to step  10

    A: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER 
    1. Disconnect the M1 speaker connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Always 5 to 7 Ω

    NG: REPLACE FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the M1 speaker connector
    2. Disconnect the R39 amplifier connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R39-3 (CTR+) - M1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      R39-9 (CTR-) - M1-2
      R39-3 (CTR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R39-9 (CTR-) - Body ground

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER  (See REMOVAL  )

  5. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Disconnect the L9 and L84 speaker connectors
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Always 5 to 7 Ω

    NG: REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER  (See INSPECTION  )

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK DEFECTIVE SPEAKER AND VEHICLE EQUIPMENT 
    1. Check which side of the vehicle the defective speaker is on. Also, check if the vehicle is equipped with the LEXUS Link System.

      Result 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      Defective speaker is on right side (with LEXUS Link System) A
      Defective speaker is on right side (without LEXUS Link System) B
      Defective speaker is on left side B

    B:  Go to step  9

    A: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAYDAY ECU - STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER AND FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the R35 amplifier connector
    2. Disconnect the L84 speaker connector
    3. Disconnect the R24 ECU connector
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L84-1 (TWR+) - R24-2 (SPO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L84-2 (TWR-) - R24-3 (SPO-)
      R35-8 (FR+) - R24-10 (SPI+)
      R35-7 (FR-) - R24-11 (SPI-)
      L84-1 (TWR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L84-2 (TWR-) - Body ground
      R35-8 (FR+) - Body ground
      R35-7 (FR-) - Body ground

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER (OPERATION) 
    1. After replacing the stereo component amplifier with a normal one, check that audio can be heard from the front RH side speaker (see REMOVAL  )

      OK: Audio can be heard. 

    NG: REPLACE MAYDAY ECU  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: END (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER IS DEFECTIVE) 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the R35 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the L9 and L84 speaker connectors
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R35-2 (FL+) - L9-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      R35-6 (FL-) - L9-2
      R35-8 (FR+) - L84-1

      R35-6 (FL-) - Body ground
      R35-8 (FR+) - Body ground

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER  (See REMOVAL  ).

  10. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER 
    1. Disconnect the N12 and N4 speaker connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Always 11 to 13 Ω

    NG: REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the R36 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the N12 and N4 speaker connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance: 

      for LH 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R36-10 (WFL+) - N12-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      R36-8 (WFL-) - N12-2
      R36-10 (WFL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R36-8 (WFL-) - Body ground

      for RH 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      R36-5 (WFR+) - N4-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      R36-11 (WFR-) - N4-2

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER  (See REMOVAL  )

  12. CHECK SPEAKER 
    1. Check the malfunctioning speakers.

      Result 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      Rear No 3 speaker A
      Rear No 1 speaker B
      Rear No 2 speaker C
      Rear header speaker D
      Stereo component speaker E

    B:  Go to step  15

    C:  Go to step  17

    D:  Go to step  19

    E:  Go to step  21

    A: Go to next step 

  13. INSPECT REAR NO. 3 SPEAKER 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when the speaker is replaced with a normal one

      OK: Malfunction disappears. 

      HINT:

      • Connect all the connectors to the rear No 3 speakers.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left rear speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the inspection above on both LH and RH sides.

    NG: Go to step 14 

    OK: REPLACE REAR NO. 3 SPEAKER  (See INSPECTION  )

  14. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - REAR NO. 3 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the R35 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the Q8 and Q3 speaker connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance: 

      for LH 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R35-3 (TWL+) - Q8-1 (+TW) Always Below 1 Ω
      R35-9 (TWL-) - Q8-2 (-TW)
      R35-3 (TWL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R35-9 (TWL-) - Body ground

      for RH 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R35-4 (TWR+) - Q3-1 (+TW) Always Below 1 Ω
      R35-10 (TWR-) - Q3-2 (-TW)

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER  (See REMOVAL  )

  15. INSPECT REAR NO. 1 SPEAKER 
    1. Disconnect the O21 and O10 speaker connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      1 - 2 Always 5 to 7 Ω

    NG: REPLACE REAR NO. 1 SPEAKER  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to next step 

  16. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR NO. 3 SPEAKER - REAR NO. 1 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the O21, O10, Q8 and Q3 speaker connectors
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

      Standard resistance: 

      for LH 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q8-3 (RLD+) - O21-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      Q8-4 (RLD-) - O21-2
      Q8-3 (RLD+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q8-4 (RLD-) - Body ground

      for RH

    OK: REPLACE REAR NO. 3 SPEAKER  (See INSPECTION  )

  17. INSPECT REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Disconnect the O12 and O1 speaker connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Always 4.8 to 7.2 Ω

    NG: REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to next step 

  18. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the R35 and R39 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the O12 and O1 speaker connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

      Standard resistance: 

      for LH 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R39-4 (L+) - O12-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      R39-10 (L-) - O12-2
      R39-4 (L+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER  (See REMOVAL  )

  19. INSPECT REAR HEADER SPEAKER 
    1. Disconnect the S18 and R18 speaker connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      1 - 2 Always 5 to 7 Ω

    NG: REPLACE REAR HEADER SPEAKER  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to next step 

  20. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - REAR HEADER SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the R36 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the S18 and R18 speaker connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance: 

      for LH 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R36-2 (SL+) - S18-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      R36-7 (SL-) - S18-2
      R36-2 (SL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R36-7 (SL-) - Body ground

      for RH

    OK: REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER  (See REMOVAL  )

  21. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER 
    1. Disconnect the R20 speaker connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 4 Always 10.5 to 14 5 Ω

    NG: REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER  (See INSPECTION  )

    OK: Go to next step 

  22. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the R39 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the R20 speaker connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R39-1 (WF1+) - R20-1 (WF1+) Always Below 1 Ω
      R39-5 (WF1-) - R20-3 (WF1-)

      R39-1 (WF1+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
