Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER 
    1. Disconnect the R30 controller connector
    2. Using an oscilloscope, check the signal waveform between each terminal and the body ground according to the conditions, as shown in the chart below Measurement condition
      TESTER CONNECTION CHART

      Tester Connection Content
      Terminal No (Symbols) NTS2 (R30-24) - Body ground
      Tool Setting 0 2V/DIV, 10 μsec/DIV
      Condition During DVD image

      OK: Waveform is as shown in the illustration.

    NG: Go to step 2 

    OK: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER  (See REMOVAL  )

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER - REAR SEAT CONSOLE BOX) 
    1. Disconnect the R30 controller.
    2. Disconnect the R16 box connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R30-24 (NTS2) - R16-7 (NTSC) Always Below 1 Ω
      R30-25 (SGN2) - R16-6 (SGND)
      R30-26 (SLDB) - R16-5 (SLD2)
      R30-24 (NTS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R30-25 (SGN2) - Body ground

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT REAR SEAT CONSOLE BOX

    1. Disconnect the box connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-9 (SLD2) - E-5 (SLD2) Always Below 1 Ω
      A-10 (SGND) - E-6 (SGND)
      A-11 (NTSC) - E-7 (NTSC)

    NG: REPLACE REAR SEAT CONSOLE BOX  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: REPLACE DISC PLAYER  (See REMOVAL  )
