Data List/Active Test
- DATA LIST
HINT:
Using Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.
NOTE: In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty.- Warm up the engine.
- Turn the engine switch off.
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Turn the tester on.
- Enter the following menus: "Powertrain/ECT/Data List".
- According to the display on the tester, read "Data List".

- ACTIVE TEST
HINT:
Using Techstream to perform Active Test allows relays, VSVs, actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Test early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Test.
- Warm up the engine.
- Turn the engine switch off.
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Turn the tester on.
- Enter the following items: "Powertrain/ECT/Active Test".
- According to the display on tester, perform "Active Test".
Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Control the Shift Position Operates the shift solenoid valves to allow gears to selected manually. - Press "→" button: Upshift occurs
- Press "←" button: Downshift occurs
Can be used to check the operation of the shift solenoid valves.
Upshifts and downshifts should be performed consecutively. A 10-second interval is required between gear changes.
Do not downshift at high speeds. Doing so will damage the automatic transaxle.
[Vehicle Condition]- 50 km/h (30 mph) or less
Activate the Solenoid (SL1) Operates shift solenoid SL1 ON/OFF [Vehicle Condition] - Engine stopped
- Shift lever in P or N
Activate the Solenoid (SL2) Operates shift solenoid SL2 ON/OFF [Vehicle Condition] - Engine stopped
- Shift lever in P or N
Activate the Solenoid (SL3) Operates shift solenoid SL3 ON/OFF [Vehicle Condition] - Engine stopped
- Shift lever in P or N
Activate the Solenoid (SL4) Operates shift solenoid SL4 ON/OFF [Vehicle Condition] - Engine stopped
- Shift lever in P or N
Activate the Lock Up Controls the shift solenoid SLU and SL to set the automatic transaxle to the lock-up condition. ON/OFF Can be used to check SLU and SL solenoid operation.
[Vehicle Condition]- Throttle valve opening angle: Less than 20%
- Vehicle speed: 60 km/h (37 mph) or more, and 6th gear
Activate the Solenoid (SL) Operates shift solenoid SL ON/OFF [Vehicle Condition] - Engine stopped
- Shift lever in P or N
Activate the Solenoid (SLU) Operates shift solenoid SLU ON/OFF [Vehicle Condition] - Engine stopped
- Shift lever in P or N
Activate the Solenoid (SLT)* Operates shift solenoid SLT to raise the line pressure. ON/OFF
HINT:
ON: No action (normal operation)
OFF: Line pressure up (When the Active Test of "Activate the Solenoid (SLT)" is performed, the TCM commands the SLT solenoid to turn off).[Vehicle Condition] - Vehicle Stopped
- IDL: ON
Connect the TC and TE1 Connects and disconnects TC and TE1.
(transitions into the fluid temperature detection mode)ON/OFF The MIL will not blink when "Connect the TC and TE1/ON" is selected. *: "Activate the Solenoid (SLT)" in the Active Test is performed to check the line pressure changes by connecting the SST to the automatic transaxle. The same SST is used for the HYDRAULIC TEST. Refer to HYDRAULIC TEST as well.
HINT:
The pressure values in Active Test and HYDRAULIC TEST will be different from each other.
