Smart Access System With Push-Button Start: Precaution: Precaution

  1. NOTICE FOR INITIALIZATION
    NOTE:

When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, initialize the following systems after the cable is reconnected.

    System Name See procedure
Intuitive Parking Assist System Refer to INITIALIZATION
    Theft Deterrent System
    Variable Gear Ratio Steering System
  2. PRECAUTIONS FOR PUSH-BUTTON START FUNCTION:
    1. Before starting the engine, firmly depress the brake pedal until the indicator of the engine switch lights up in green.
    2. The power source mode (off, on (ACC), on (IG)) is always stored in the vehicle. After the battery is disconnected and reconnected, the power source condition before battery disconnection will be restored. Be sure to turn the engine switch off before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Be careful if the power source condition before the battery became depleted is not known.
    3. After the battery is disconnected and reconnected, be sure to wait 10 seconds or more before engine start. The engine may not start immediately after battery is reconnected.
    4. If the key is held over the engine switch to start the engine because the key battery is depleted, the following warnings will sound:
      1. Driver's door open → closed
        • An exit warning if the shift lever is in a position other than P and the power source is a mode other than off.
        • An exit warning if the shift lever is in P and the power source is a mode other than off.
      2. Doors other than the driver door open → closed
        • Warning to inform that the key has been taken out of the vehicle.

These warnings will sound because whether the key is in the cabin or not cannot be determined. They do not indicate system malfunctions.
