On-Vehicle Inspection

INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
2. Turn the Techstream main switch ON.
Start and warm up the engine.
Idle the engine.

Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine and ECT/Active Test.

Specified condition

Tester Display	Test Part	Control Range	Diagnostic Note
Control the VVT Linear (Bank1)	Control VVT (bank 1)	-128 to 127 % This valve added to present OCV control duty 100 %: Maximum advance -100 %: Maximum retard	Engine stall or rough idle when VVT actuator operated by 100 %. Test possible during idle.
Control the VVT System (Bank1)	Turn on and off OCV (Oil Control Valve)	ON/OFF	Engine stalls or idles roughly when OCV turned ON Normal engine running or idling when OCV OFF
Control the VVT Linear (Bank2)	Control VVT (bank 2)	Between -128 and 127%	Same as above
Control the VVT System (Bank2)	Turn on and off OCV (Oil Control Valve)	ON/OFF	Engine stalls or idles roughly when OCV turned ON Normal engine running or idling when OCV OFF

If the result is not as specified, check the oil control valve and wirings.

HINT:

VVT CTRS: Command to activate exhaust and intake side oil control valves of bank 1.
VVT CTRS B1: Command to activate exhaust and intake side oil control valves of bank 2.
VVT B1: Command to activate intake side oil control valve of bank 1.
VVT B2: Command to activate intake side oil control valve of bank 2.
VVT EX B1: Command to activate exhaust side oil control valve of bank 1.
VVT EX B2: Command to activate exhaust side oil control valve of bank 2.
