DTC P0505: Idle Control System Malfunction: Procedure
- CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0505)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
- Read the DTCs.
Result
Result Proceed to DTC P0505 is output A DTC P0505 and other DTCs are output B HINT:
If any DTCs other than P0505 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

- CHECK PCV HOSE (HOSE CONNECTIONS)
- Check the PCV hose connections. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 2

PCV hose is connected correctly and is not damaged.
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE PCV HOSE
OK: Go to next step
- Check the PCV hose connections. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 2

- CHECK INTAKE SYSTEM
- Check the intake system for vacuum leaks. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

OK
No leaks in the intake system.
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE INTAKE SYSTEM
OK: Go to next step
- Check the intake system for vacuum leaks. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

- CHECK THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY (VISUALLY CHECK THROTTLE VALVE)
- Check for contamination between the throttle valve and the housing. And check that the throttle valve moves smoothly.
OK
Throttle valve is not contaminated with foreign objects and moves smoothly.
NG → See step 6
OK → See step 7
- Check for contamination between the throttle valve and the housing. And check that the throttle valve moves smoothly.
- GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
- REPLACE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL
- REPLACE ECM. Refer to REMOVAL
