Steering Column Assembly: Installation: Installation
- INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
- Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and the steering column assembly to connect the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to the steering column assembly.

TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*1 Matchmark - Install the bolt.
Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf)
- Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and the steering column assembly to connect the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to the steering column assembly.
- INSTALL STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Align the matchmarks on the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly and the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to connect the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly to the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.

TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*1 Matchmark - Temporarily install the bolt.
HINT:
Tighten the bolt after connecting the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly to the power steering link assembly.
- Align the matchmarks on the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly and the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to connect the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly to the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.
- INSTALL STEERING POST ASSEMBLY
- Install the steering post assembly with the 4 nuts.
Torque: 26 N*m (260 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf)
- Connect the connectors and wire harness clamps to the steering post assembly.
- Tighten the clamp to the steering column hole shield.
- Install the steering post assembly with the 4 nuts.
- INSTALL BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 7
- INSTALL NO. 1 AIR DUCT
- Engage the 2 claws to install the No. 1 air duct.
- CONNECT STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 4
- INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
HINT:
Refer to the instructions for Installation of the driver side knee airbag assembly. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Using pliers, expand the clamp.TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION
*1 Clip *2 Claw - While holding the clamp expanded, install the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering column assembly and engage the claw.
- Return the clamp to its original position.
- Connect the connectors to the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.
- Using pliers, expand the clamp.
- INSTALL TILT AND TELESCOPIC SWITCH See step 1
- INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Upper Side)
- Engage the 4 clips and 2 guides to install the steering column cover (upper side) onto the instrument panel cluster finish panel.
- Engage the claw to install the steering column cover (upper side).
- INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Lower Side)
- Engage the 2 claws to install the steering column cover (lower side).
NOTE:
Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch.
- Install the 3 screws.
Torque: 2.0 N*m (20 kgf*cm, 18 in.*lbf)
- Engage the 2 claws to install the steering column cover (lower side).
- ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 6
- INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY See step 10
- INSTALL STEERING PAD . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
- INSTALL LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 2
- INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 3
- INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE:
- Make sure that the cable has been disconnected from the battery terminal for at least 2 seconds before reconnecting the cable.
- Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal with the front wheels facing straight ahead.
- Reset the auto away/return function setting to the previous condition by changing the customize parameter. Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS .
- INSPECT STEERING PAD . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 5
- REGISTER ECU CODE NOTE:
When replacing the steering lock actuator assembly, perform initialization. Refer to REGISTRATION .
- INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
- Inspect the SRS warning light. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
