Steering Column Assembly: Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and the steering column assembly to connect the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to the steering column assembly.

      *1 Matchmark
    2. Install the bolt.

      Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

  2. INSTALL STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the matchmarks on the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly and the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to connect the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly to the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.

      *1 Matchmark
    2. Temporarily install the bolt.

      HINT: 

      Tighten the bolt after connecting the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly to the power steering link assembly.

  3. INSTALL STEERING POST ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the steering post assembly with the 4 nuts.

      Torque: 26 N*m (260 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the connectors and wire harness clamps to the steering post assembly.
    3. Tighten the clamp to the steering column hole shield.

  4. INSTALL BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 7
  5. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR DUCT 
    1. Engage the 2 claws to install the No. 1 air duct.

  6. CONNECT STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 4
  7. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Refer to the instructions for Installation of the driver side knee airbag assembly. Refer to INSTALLATION .

  8. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  9. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using pliers, expand the clamp.

      *1 Clip
      *2 Claw
    2. While holding the clamp expanded, install the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering column assembly and engage the claw.
    3. Return the clamp to its original position.
    4. Connect the connectors to the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.
  10. INSTALL TILT AND TELESCOPIC SWITCH  See step  1
  11. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Upper Side) 
    1. Engage the 4 clips and 2 guides to install the steering column cover (upper side) onto the instrument panel cluster finish panel.

    2. Engage the claw to install the steering column cover (upper side).

  12. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Lower Side) 
    1. Engage the 2 claws to install the steering column cover (lower side).

      NOTE:

      Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch.

    2. Install the 3 screws.

      Torque: 2.0 N*m (20 kgf*cm, 18 in.*lbf) 

  13. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 6
  14. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY  See step  10
  15. INSTALL STEERING PAD  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  16. INSTALL LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 2
  17. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 3
  18. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
  19. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:
    • Make sure that the cable has been disconnected from the battery terminal for at least 2 seconds before reconnecting the cable.
    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal with the front wheels facing straight ahead.
    • Reset the auto away/return function setting to the previous condition by changing the customize parameter. Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS .
  20. INSPECT STEERING PAD  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 5
  21. REGISTER ECU CODE 
    NOTE:

    When replacing the steering lock actuator assembly, perform initialization. Refer to REGISTRATION .

  22. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Inspect the SRS warning light. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
