Windshield Deicer Switch: Inspection: Inspection

  1. INSPECT FRONT WIPER DEICER SWITCH 
    1. Disconnect the front wiper deicer switch connector.

    2. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (ILL+) - 2 (ILL-) Headlight dimmer switch OFF → ON Below 1 V → 11 to 14 V
      4 (D) - 3 (E) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      5 (IG) - 3 (E) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (ILL-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      3 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the front wiper deicer connector.

    4. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (D) - 3 (E) Engine switch on (IG), front wiper deicer switch OFF → ON 11 to 14 V → Below 1 V (after 15 +/- 3 minutes: Below 1 V)
      5 (IG) - 3 (E) Engine switch on (IG), front wiper deicer switch ON 11 to 14 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Front Wiper Deicer Switch)

      If the result is not as specified, replace the front wiper deicer switch.
