DTC P0617: Starter Relay Circuit High: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STARTER SIGNAL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / All Data / Starter Signal.
    5. Read the value displayed on the Techstream when the vehicle is driven at 20 km/h (12 mph) or more.
      WARNING:

      When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.

      OK

  2. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH 
    1. Inspect the park/neutral position switchRefer to INSPECTION for A760H, Refer to INSPECTION for A960E).

  3. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STARTER SIGNAL CIRCUIT) 
    1. Repair or replace harness or connector (park/neutral position switch - ECM - STARTER relay).

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0617) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCsRefer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    5. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in the Confirmation Driving Pattern.
    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    7. Read the DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0617 is output A
      DTC is not output B

    B → END

  5. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STARTER SIGNAL CIRCUIT) 
    1. Repair or replace harness or connector (clutch pedal switch - ECM - STARTER relay).

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0617) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCsRefer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    5. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in the Confirmation Driving Pattern.
    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    7. Read the DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0617 is output A
      DTC is not output B

    B → END

  7. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  8. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
  9. REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  10. REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL
