Engine Control System (4GR-FSE) (Service Information): ECM: Removal: Removal

  1. PRECAUTION (w/ Navigation System for HDD) 
    NOTE:

    After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  3. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 1
  4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 2
  5. REMOVE ECM COVER 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and ECM cover.

      NOTE:
      • Remove all water on and around the ECM cover.
      • Perform the inspection indoors to avoid rain.
      • Be sure to prevent water intrusion to the ECM (connectors and screw parts).
  6. REMOVE ECM 
    1. Disconnect the ECM connectors.
      1. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the connector holder.

      2. Disconnect the 6 ECM connectors.
    2. Remove the 2 nuts and ECM.
