DTC P0617: Starter Relay Circuit High: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STARTER SIGNAL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Starter Signal.
    4. Check the value displayed on the Techstream when the vehicle is driven at 20 km/h (12.4 mph) or more.
      WARNING:

      When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.

      OK

      Condition Starter Signal Proceed to
      Driving at 20 km/h (12.4 mph) or more Close (Starter signal off) A
      Open (Starter signal on) B

    B → See step   2 

    A → See step   5 

  2. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the park/neutral position switch. Refer to INSPECTION .

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STA SIGNAL CIRCUIT) 
    1. Repair or replace harness or connector (park/neutral position switch assembly - ST relay - ECM).

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0617) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    5. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in the Confirmation Driving Pattern.
    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    7. Read the DTCs.

      DTC is not output A
      DTC P0617 is output B

  5. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
  6. REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  7. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL
