TPMS Initialization Procedure

NOTE: This system requires initializing after tire pressure warning valves and transmitters are replaced. When driving with the tires inflated to a higher than standard tire pressure.
NOTE: Be sure to adjust the tire pressure to specification before initialization. See tire loading and pressure label on driver door jam. When the tire pressure warning system is initialized, the current tire pressure is set as the pressure benchmark.
  1. Park the vehicle at a safe place with the parking brake applied. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
NOTE: Initialization cannot be performed while the vehicle is moving.
  2. Check and adjust the tire pressure. See tire loading and pressure label on driver door jam. The tire pressure warning system will operate on this pressure level.
  3. Start the engine.
  4. Press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch for at least 3 seconds. The tire pressure warning light will flash 3 times and a message will be shown on the multi-information display to indicate that initialization has started. See Fig 1.
  5. Wait a few minutes for the multi-information display to show the tire inflation pressure for all 5 tires, and then turn the engine off.
