Front Acceleration Sensor: Removal: Removal

  1. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  2. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5
  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

    NOTE:
    • w/ Navigation System (for HDD):

      After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      Condition Waiting Time
      Vehicle enrolled in safety connect system 6 minutes
      Vehicle not enrolled in safety connect system 1 minute
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .
  4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 1
  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 8
  6. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOLDING  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 9
  7. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 13
  8. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 10
  9. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 10
  10. REMOVE ACCELERATION SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the sensor connector.
    2. Remove the bolt and acceleration sensor with bracket from the instrument panel reinforcement.

      NOTE:
      • Avoid any impact to the acceleration sensor.
      • Do not drop the acceleration sensor. If it is dropped, replace it with a new one.
      • The acceleration sensor removed from the vehicle must not be placed upside down.
