Initializing Tire Pressure Monitor System
NOTE:
When initializing the system, the present tire condition is stored as a standard.
During initialization, the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter measures the inflation pressure of the tires, and registers the signals that are transmitted into the tire pressure monitor ECU at a frequency of one per minute. The initialization process is completed when the signals from the 4 tires (including the spare tire) have been received.
- Set the tire pressure of all wheels to pressure specified on the tire and loading information label.NOTE: Perform the tire pressure adjustment after tires have sufficiently cooled down. If the tires have not sufficiently cooled down, increase the air pressure by 3-4 psi (20-30 kPa) in addition to the specified value.
- Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
- Press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the tire pressure warning light blinks 3 times at one-second intervals. See Fig 1.NOTE: Initialization is usually completed in 2-3 minutes. When the initialization is completed incorrectly, DTC C2177/77 is set after driving the vehicle about 20 minutes or more.NOTE: The initialization can be terminated by making a short circuit between terminals No. 4 (CG) and 13 (TC) of the DLC3 connector.
- To confirm that initialization is complete using the Techstream by entering the following menus: Chassis / Tire Pressure Monitor / Data List.
NOTE:
The initialization is complete when the DATA LIST "ID Tire Inflation Pressure" display shows the correct pressures. It may take about 2 or 3 minutes until the values are displayed.
