Confirmation Driving Pattern

  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
  3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Primary / Coolant Temp.
  4. Make sure that the coolant temperature is 25°C (77°F) or less [A].
  5. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure). Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ] .
  6. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
  7. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
  8. Put the engine in inspection mode (maintenance mode). Refer to INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE [08/2012 - ] .
  9. Start the engine and drive the vehicle until the coolant temperature reaches 70°C (158°F) [B].

    HINT: 

    If the coolant temperature is 40°C (104°F) or higher, the engine may stop when idling.

  10. Stop the vehicle (0 km/h (0 mph)) for 5 seconds or more [C].
  11. Accelerate the vehicle to 10 km/h (6.25 mph) or more for 10 seconds or more [D].
    WARNING:

    When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.

    HINT: 

    • When accelerating the vehicle, depress the accelerator pedal more than normal to start the engine.
    • The engine may stop during acceleration. However, this will not affect the confirmation driving.
  12. Stop the vehicle (0 km/h (0 mph)) for 5 seconds or more [E].
  13. Repeat steps [D] and [E] for 5 times or more.
  14. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes [F].
  15. Read the pending DTCs.

    HINT: 

    • If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
    • If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  16. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
  17. Input the DTC: P0505.
  18. Check the DTC judgment result.
    Techstream Display Description
    NORMAL
    • DTC judgment completed
    • System normal
    ABNORMAL
    • DTC judgment completed
    • System abnormal
    INCOMPLETE
    • DTC judgment not completed
    • Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions
    N/A
    • Unable to perform DTC judgment
    • Number of DTCs which do not fulfill DTC preconditions has reached ECU's memory limit

    HINT: 

    • If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
    • If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
    • If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or N/A, repeat steps [D] and [E] for 5 times or more.
  19. If no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ] .

    HINT: 

    • If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
    • If a permanent DTC is not output, the system is normal.
