Removal [10/2015 - ]: Procedure
- DISABLE AUTO TILT AWAY FUNCTION
- Disable the autoaway/return function by changing the customize parameter.
Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [10/2015 - ]
NOTE:Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the autoaway/return function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.
HINT:
Performing the above operation causes the autoaway/return function to be disabled when the engine switch is turned off.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.
- Turn the engine switch off.
- Disable the autoaway/return function by changing the customize parameter.
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - 09/2017] , or Refer to REMOVAL [09/2017 - ]
- INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Check the colored roller (yellow) or flat cable shown in the illustration.
*A w/o Steering Heater *B w/ Steering Heater *a Colored Roller (Yellow) *b Flat Cable If the colored roller (yellow) or flat cable shown in the illustration cannot be confirmed, it is possible that the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly is broken. Replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with a new one.
- Check the colored roller (yellow) or flat cable shown in the illustration.
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [10/2015 - 09/2017], or Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [09/2017 - ]
- REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY NOTE:
- Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).
- Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).
- Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.
- Check that the engine switch is off.
- Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Slide the slider to release the lock, and then disconnect the yellow airbag connector.
*a Slider NOTE:When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
- Disconnect the connectors.
- Disengage the claws to remove the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.
