Removal [09/2017 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2015 - ]

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2017 - ]

    HINT: 

    Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal so that the maximum retard angle of the camshaft timing control motor with EDU assembly will be learned when the cable is reconnected.

  3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [09/2017 - 05/2018], or Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [05/2018 - ]

  4. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR WITH EDU ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Disengage the clamp.

    2. Disengage the clamp.

    3. Disconnect the 2 camshaft timing control motor with EDU assembly LH connectors and.
    4. Remove the 3 bolts and camshaft timing control motor with EDU assembly LH from the timing chain cover assembly.

      NOTE:

      If the camshaft timing control motor with EDU assembly LH has been struck or dropped, replace it.

    5. Remove the O-ring from the timing chain cover assembly.

  5. DISCONNECT VENTILATION HOSE 

    See step  5

  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE 

    See step  6

  7. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  8. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER 

    See step  4

  9. DISENGAGE ENGINE WIRE 
    1. Disengage the wire harness from the engine room ECU box.

      See step  5

    2. Push the lock and move the lock lever of each connector (with lock) as shown in the illustration and disconnect the 6 connectors (with lock) from the 2 injector drivers.

      *a Lock Lever
      *b Lock
      *c Connector (with Lock)
    3. Disconnect the 2 injector driver connectors.
    4. Remove the 6 bolts and 4 nuts.

      Bolt Nut
      Connector - -
    5. Disengage the 16 clamps.
    6. Disconnect the 13 connectors.
  10. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR WITH EDU ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and camshaft timing control motor with EDU assembly RH from the timing chain cover assembly.

      NOTE:

      If the camshaft timing control motor with EDU assembly RH has been struck or dropped, replace it.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the timing chain cover assembly.
