Removal [08/2015 - 08/2019]: Procedure
- PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTE:- w/ Navigation System:
After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal
Condition Waiting Time Vehicle enrolled in safety connect system 6 minutes Vehicle not enrolled in safety connect system 1 minute - When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2015 - 08/2019] ).
- w/ Navigation System:
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
- Remove the steering wheel assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] ).
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN LOWER COVER
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN UPPER COVER
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8
- REMOVE SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5
).NOTE:
- Do not replace the spiral cable with the battery connected and the engine switch on.
- Do not rotate the spiral cable with the battery connected and the engine switch on.
- Make sure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering angle sensor.
- Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
- Remove the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5
).
