Adjustment [10/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. PREPARATION 
    1. Adjust the tire inflation pressure.

      Refer to INSPECTION [10/2023 - ]

  2. ADJUST STANDARD VEHICLE HEIGHT (w/ Air Suspension) 

    HINT: 

    Check the vehicle condition when operating to the standard vehicle height setting.

    • Perform the work with the vehicle stopped on a flat surface.
    • Make sure the hood is closed.
    • Make sure the luggage compartment door closed
    • Set the shift lever to P.
    • Make sure the courtesy lights are not on.
    • Do not depress the brake pedal.
    • Perform height adjust from outside of the vehicle to avoid vehicle height changes due when getting out of the vehicle.
    1. Record the vehicle setting conditions on the multi-information display.
    2. Get out of the vehicle and bounce the vehicle up and down at the corners to stabilize the suspension.
    3. From the outside of the vehicle, select access mode and turn it off via the vehicle setting conditions on the multi-information display.
    4. Operate the height control switch from outside the vehicle and adjust the vehicle height to HIGH
    5. After vehicle height control is completed, operate the height control switch from outside the vehicle and return the vehicle height to NORMAL.
    6. After vehicle height control is completed, select vehicle height control mode and turn it off via the vehicle setting conditions on the multi-information display.
  3. INSPECT VEHICLE HEIGHT 
    NOTE:
    • Before inspecting the wheel alignment, adjust the vehicle height to the specified value.
    • Be sure to perform measurement on a level surface.
    • If it is necessary to go under the vehicle for measurement, confirm that the parking brake is applied and the vehicle is secured with chocks.
    • Inspect while the vehicle is unloaded.
    • The standard value shown here is a value that is used for performing a wheel alignment and does not indicate the height of an actual vehicle.
    1. Bounce the vehicle up and down at the corners to stabilize the suspension.
    2. for 2WD:

      Measure the vehicle height.

      Check the values in the top table.

      Measurement Points: 

      1. A: Ground clearance of front wheel center
      1. B: Ground clearance of front No. 2 suspension lower arm bolt center
      1. C: Ground clearance of rear wheel center
      1. D: Ground clearance of rear suspension arm attachment recess
    3. for 4WD/AWD:

      Measure the vehicle height.

      Check the values in the top table.

      Measurement Points: 

      1. A: Ground clearance of front wheel center
      1. B: Ground clearance of front suspension lower arm bolt center
      1. C: Ground clearance of rear wheel center
      1. D: Ground clearance of rear suspension arm attachment recess
  4. INSPECT CAMBER, CASTER AND STEERING AXIS INCLINATION 

    Check the values in the top table.

    Refer to CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT 

  5. INSPECT TOE-IN 
    1. Bounce the vehicle up and down at the corners to stabilize the suspension.
    2. Release the parking brake and move the shift lever to N.
    3. Push the vehicle straight ahead approximately 5 m (16.4 ft.). (Step C)
    4. Put tread center marks on the rearmost points of the front wheels and measure the distance between the marks (dimension B).

    5. Slowly push the vehicle straight ahead to cause the front wheels to rotate 180°. Use the front tire valve as a reference point.

      HINT: 

      Do not allow the wheels to rotate more than 180°. If the wheels rotate more than 180°, perform the procedure from step C again.

    6. Measure the distance between the tread center marks on the front of the wheels (dimension A).

      Check the values in the top table.

      HINT: 

      Measure "B - A" only when "C + D" cannot be measured.

  6. ADJUST TOE-IN 
    1. Make sure that the thread length of the right and left steering rack ends are approximately the same.

      Standard Difference

      1.5 mm (0.059 in.) or less

      *A for 2WD
      *B for AWD
      *1 Steering Rack Boot Clip
      *2 Lock Nut
    2. Remove the steering rack boot clips.
    3. Loosen the tie rod assembly lock nuts.
    4. Turn the right and left steering rack ends by an equal amount to adjust the toe-in.
    5. Make sure that the thread length of the right and left steering rack ends are the same.
    6. Using SST, tighten the tie rod assembly lock nuts.
      • SST: 09612-24014 
        1. 09617-24011

      Specified tightening torque 

      Torque: 88 N.m (897 kgf/cm, 65 ft.lbf) 

      HINT: 

      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

        Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2023 - ]

      • When using SST (fulcrum length of 51 mm (2.008 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 600 mm (23.622 in.)): 81.1 N.m (827 kgf/cm, 60 ft.lbf)

    7. Place the steering rack boots on the seats and install the steering rack boot clips.

      HINT: 

      • Make sure that the steering rack boots are not twisted.
      • Make sure that the steering rack boot clips are facing towards the front of the vehicle.
  7. INSPECT WHEEL ANGLE 
    1. Put tread center marks on the rearmost points of a turning radius gauge.

    2. Turn the steering wheel fully to the left and right and measure the turning angle.

      Check the values in the top table.

  9. INSPECT VEHICLE HEIGHT CONTROL (w/ Air Suspension) 
    1. Check the vehicle height control operation.

      Refer to OPERATION CHECK [12/2017 - ]

    2. After the inspection is completed, return the settings to the recorded values.
