Replacement [09/2014 - ]: Procedure
- REPLACE TRANSMITTER BATTERY (for Standard) NOTE:
Take extra care when handling these precision electronic components.
- Push the release hook knob and remove the mechanical key as indicated by the arrows, in the order shown in the illustration.
- Insert a precision screwdriver into the gap, and turn the screwdriver to remove the transmitter housing cover.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
*a Protective Tape - Insert a precision screwdriver into the gap and gently remove the transmitter battery (lithium battery: CR2032).NOTE:
- Do not push the terminals with your finger.
- Do not forcibly pry up the transmitter battery as the terminals may be damaged.
- Do not touch the transmitter battery with wet hands. Moisture may cause rust.
- Do not touch or move any components inside the transmitter. It may interfere with proper operation.
- When replacing the transmitter battery, before starting work, remove static electricity that has built up in the body by touching, for example, the vehicle to prevent the electrical transmitter from being damaged.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
*a Protective Tape - Install a new transmitter battery (lithium battery: CR2032) with the positive (+) side facing upward, as shown in the illustration.NOTE:
- Do not bend the transmitter battery electrode during installation.
- Keep the inside of the transmitter housing cover interior free of dust and oil.
- When replacing the transmitter battery, before starting work, remove static electricity that has built up in the body by touching, for example, the vehicle to prevent the electrical transmitter from being damaged.
- Install the transmitter housing cover by pressing down on it as shown in the illustration.
- Insert the mechanical key into the transmitter.
- Press one of the transmitter switches and check that the LED illuminates.

- REPLACE TRANSMITTER (CARD KEY) BATTERY (for Card Type)
- Lightly hold and pull the battery cover out as shown in the illustration.NOTE:
Do not insert a screwdriver, etc. between the case and battery cover or forcibly bend the battery cover as this may deform the battery cover.
HINT:
- If the battery cover is held too firmly, it becomes harder to pull out.
- If the cover is slippery and it is difficult to pull it out, use non-slip gloves to pull the cover out.
- Remove the transmitter (card key) battery (lithium battery: CR2412).
- Insert the transmitter (card key) battery (lithium battery: CR2412) between the 2 terminals deep in the card as shown in the illustration.NOTE:
- Insert the transmitter (card key) battery so that its positive (+) side is facing the LEXUS mark.
- Do not deform the terminals.
- If the terminals are dirty, wipe the terminals with a soft cloth before installing the transmitter (card key) battery.
HINT:
Check if the card terminals are damaged or if foreign matter has entered the card.
- Install the battery cover as shown in the illustration.NOTE:
- Push on the battery cover until its attachment hooks are engaged securely.
- When the battery cover is removed and installed many times, be careful as the cover may become loose.
- Lightly hold and pull the battery cover out as shown in the illustration.
